When Meagan Hanley, founder of A Place for Ace Rescue in Massachusetts, first saw a photo of Kleo, she immediately knew she had to do something for her before it was too late. Kleo was on the kill list at a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, and Meagan decided to take her in quickly.
Kleo was adopted and brought back, Meagan became concerned that she would not be adopted again before she was put to sleep. This dog has a physical trait that could affect her adoption. Kleo has a slightly sloping face and a distinctly different underbody than most dogs.
There was something special about Kleo that made Meagan rally everyone to find her. She is currently in foster care in Boston, where she is very happy. She truly loves life, and after everything she has been through, changes don’t phase her. Brianne Miers, her foster mother, never ceases to marvel at her brilliance.
“Kleo makes the most of every day. She really has a zest for life. When she opened the front door in the morning, it was like being shot out of a cannon. She’s a ball of energy and loves to come and go. She’s curious about all the new sights and smells around her, and she’s very smart,” says Brianne.
Brianne had had many dogs before Kleo, but none of them were quite like her. Kleo didn’t realise that she was any different from other furries, but people noticed her and that was precisely what influenced her adoption. “She snorts a bit when she’s agitated and because of her underbite she can get a bit messy when it comes to drinking water or eating a crunchy treat. Otherwise she’s a normal, happy and healthy dog. Luckily, she doesn’t know that she’s any different from any other dog. I saw people staring at her when we walked by, but I was happy to follow their example,” Brianne added.
Kleo is a very special dog. She will do best in a family with only older children and is very excitable when living with cats. She is looking for a family with an active lifestyle and would make a great jogging or walking companion.
She is very intelligent and definitely needs to be entertained at home with toys, puzzles, bones or another dog to play with. “Kleo was put on the adoption list along with 20 other dogs and they all found families pretty quickly. Unfortunately, she hasn’t received any serious care.”
Briana added. All Kleo is looking for is love and acceptance. It’s hard to see all the other dogs adopted before Kleo, but still, her foster family knows that the right family will come along eventually. Until Kleo is adopted, she will continue to explore and enjoy life in her foster home. Everyone is so willing to help her and care for her until a family gives her a loving forever home. Please share Kleo’s story to help her find a home where she can live happily ever after.
