This man from Bangor, Maine, went through a period of agony and disappointment a few weeks ago. Cutie Pie, his favorite kitty, vanished without explanation; all he knows is that when he arrived home, Cutie Pie was gone.
The feline used to go on solitary trips throughout the neighborhood, but he always returned, which did not happen in this case and broke Theron’s heart.
For days, the man looked for his companion, but no one in the area could help him. He didn’t give up hope, though, that Cutie Pie would eventually come in through the window. But, after a few weeks, he gave up.
Theron did not give up hope of seeing his cat again, but he did seek the company of another companion. With so many kittens left alone in shelters, this seemed like a fantastic opportunity to help another feline in need find a home.
Theron drove to the Bangor Humane Society’s shelter with his mind made up. She went to the shelter to meet the local furry residents and, if she was lucky, begin the adoption process.
Everything was fine; Theron was walking through the shelter with one of his staff, looking for the kitten that would shoot his heart, and they had finally found it.
Theron discovered the shelter that had saved Cutie Pie without even realizing it. His cat was there, and he was certain it was his.
“While visiting the kennels, he had a closer look at one of our pets, and when the cat turned on him, Theron busted out laughing,” the shelter posted on Facebook.
The volunteer at the shelter, like Theron, couldn’t believe it. It was a complete coincidence! But the man’s phone was full of photos of him with the provocative Cutie Pie, and there was no question that Theron had found his sweetheart.
The owner, as well as the shelter’s personnel, were perplexed by the coincidence.
“Let me tell you, I’ve never seen a cat who was so eager to be in a cat carrier!” He was excited to get home! This is fantastic. We want to reconnect as many animals with their owners as possible, and it’s a privilege to care for them until that happens.”
