A dog has been freed from a sticky situation with the help of “a lot of olive oil and patience.”
Earlier this week, teams from Queensland’s Mareeba Fire and Rescue, a local vet, and a veterinarian from Sundance Veterinary Services were called to a property just west of Cairns to rescue Bonnie from a tight spot. The dog had somehow managed to get her head stuck in the small, round center hole of a tire.
A social media post from Qυeeпslaпd Fire and Emergecy Services said it was a difficult extraction.
“This cub was stuck in a very difficult position, but fortunately the work is too tiring for our crews,” said QFES, able to resist the cubs.
“Mareeba Fire and Rescue had helped Sυпdaпce Veterinary Services free little Bopie after she was found slightly deflated with her head stuck in the middle of a wheel rim.
“The teams used a lot of olive oil and patience to assist in the extraction. We have heard that he is recovering well.”
Photos from the crew, veterinary staff and owner show a shy, perhaps embarrassed, Bopie after its removal.
Unsurprisingly, the post about the incident exploded with praise galore for rural fires.
