Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has reportedly declined a lucrative offer to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League. The Brazilian international has risen to prominence as one of the biggest names in world football, especially after his success in winning La Liga and the Champions League. Vinicius has become a key figure at the Santiago Bernabeu, donning the iconic No. 7 jersey that once belonged to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo.

The Portuguese icon is now in the Middle East, and efforts are being made to see Vinicius follow a similar path. According to information from The Athletic , a delegation from the Public Investment Fund (PIF), working on behalf of the Saudi Ministry of Sport, has sounded out Vinicius’ representatives about a possible transfer in the future.

The move would see the South American become the new face of the Saudi Pro League, with the prospect of a hugely lucrative contract. Saudi officials are keen to secure another big signing ahead of the country hosting the World Cup finals in 2034.

However, Vinicius appears to be out of reach for now, as he has a contract with Madrid until 2027, including a €1 billion (£856 million/$1.1 billion) release clause. The 24-year-old has made it clear that he has no desire to take on a new challenge any time soon, with his sights set on winning the Ballon d’Or while representing his current club.

When asked about the situation, Cristiano Ronaldo said: “Vinicius is an exceptional player and I completely understand his decision to stay at Real Madrid. He has a bright future ahead of him and will undoubtedly make history at the Bernabéu.”
