Daisy’s story began tragically when, at just two months old, she was abandoned on the streets of Bellflower, California. An animal control officer found her, but due to a congenital malformation in her front legs, Daisy faced the grim prospect of euthanasia. In many shelters, disabled dogs struggle to find forever homes and are often among the first considered for “end of life” programs.
Fortunately, a compassionate volunteer spotted Daisy and saved her just in time. A few months later, Daisy found a loving family, proving she didn’t need to die at all. She even learned to walk and run without a wheelchair. However, to prevent strain on her spine, her new family consulted a vet and decided to give her a custom trolley to help her move more comfortably. Daisy’s journey from the streets to a joyful, active life serves as a beautiful testament to resilience and the transformative power of second chances.
Since then she has adapted to using wheels and goes for long walks , doing everything a ‘normal’ dog would do. Daisy is full of energy and she inspires everyone around her. Her mission now is to spread the message of love towards animals with special needs. This is why the Underbiteunite project was born.
Sharing Daisy’s story means raising people’s awareness and changing their opinion about disabled dogs.
