A lot of people find joy in being around dogs. Even when they’ve faced challenging lives, they still manage to find the enthusiasm to keep going. Their attitude is something we could all learn from.
For one group of dogs living in Tangier, Morocco, they didn’t have too much to smile about. They were from the streets, strays, neglected, dogs that nobody wanted.
But they were given second chance. Salima Sally Kadaoui rescues stray, suffering dogs from the streets and provides them with a loving forever home with her rescue, the SFT Animal Sanctuary.
Because of her rescue’s strict no-kill policy, they’ve become the home of many disabled dogs and cats with amputated limbs, including 18 disabled dogs in wheelchairs.
Taking on caring for these dogs is no easy feat, but seeing their moments of joy makes it so worth it. As they share on their website, “to us, every life is precious.”
Despite their hardships in life, these 18 dogs were beyond thrilled to experience a trip to the beach. They touched the sand, ran towards the wave, and for a moment, forgot all about their wheelchairs.
“They loved the beach,” Salima said.
What may seem like a simple day-trip to some, is an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for others.
