Portugal has landed in Germany, ready and determined as they prepare for Euro 2024
Despite Leny Yoro’s stated intention to join Real Madrid, Manchester United are reportedly making strong moves to get the Lille defender.
Since Raphael Varane’s contract is up for renewal this month, Manchester United has been actively seeking a replacement central defender.
According to AS today, United have reportedly already moved in a “very serious” manner to acquire Yoro, who is among the top targets on their list.
An bid “very close” to Lille’s £51 million valuation has already been made by United.
While Madrid is a huge fan of the Frenchman, they are hesitant to pay more than £34 million to keep Yoro, whose contract is up in June 2025.
Although selling to the highest bidder would be Lille’s ideal scenario, they may face resistance from Yoro, who is adamant about joining the reigning European champions.
If the “extremely ambitious” star does not seal the deal this year, he may be willing to join Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.

Yoro needs to be convinced to start more often for United.Yoro is a promising young central defender who ranks among Ligue 1’s top. Impressively, he completed 92% of his passes in his debut season with Lille.
Additionally, the adolescent averaged 3.9 recoveries and 3 clearances per game, leading to a 63% duels win rate. In each game, he only let go of the ball five times.
United are prepared to meet Lille’s financial demands, but they still have a long way to go before they can convince the Frenchman to join Old Trafford this summer.
If the Red Devils can guarantee him a starting position on a regular basis, we think they still have a shot at convincing him.
Yoro and Lisandro Martinez may be given spots now that Varane is leaving. In the near future, he might not have the same assurance at Madrid.
