At 39 years old, striker Cristiano Ronaldo is content with his two Euro and Nations League titles. Now, he simply relishes every moment wearing the Portuguese national team shirt.
Ronaldo helped Portugal win their first two major trophies – Euro 2016 and the 2019 UEFA Nations League – but has never won a World Cup. The Portuguese forward holds the record for scoring in five World Cups, in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022. However, his best result is a fourth-place finish with Portugal in 2006. The superstar has also failed to score or assist in eight World Cup knockout games.
At 39, Ronaldo insists he is not aiming to win the World Cup, but is now just enjoying his time with Portugal and continuing to break records. “Winning the Euros is as valuable as winning the World Cup,” he said. “I have won two titles with Portugal that I really wanted. I am not motivated by that. I am motivated by enjoying football and records come naturally.”
