NASA appointed a new leader in charge of the UFO research department, but did not reveal his identity to avoid the risk of harassment and threats.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on September 14 announced the appointment of a new position to lead investigations of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), after publishing a new report on the phenomena. Strange phenomenon in the sky with no explanation.

“Our independent research team has not found any evidence that unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs) are of extraterrestrial origin, but it is unclear what they are, so we decided to nominate a new director in charge of this department,” Bill Nelson, head of NASA, said at a press conference in Washington.

However, the appointment process takes place in secret, the director of the UAP research department will not be named by NASA, due to concerns about the risk of this person being harassed or threatened.

“The division is responsible for developing, overseeing, and implementing NASA’s vision for UAP research, using its expertise to collaborate with other agencies to analyze this topic,” Nelson added.

For years, the US Congress has pressured the military and intelligence community to take UFO reports seriously.

In July 2022, the Pentagon established the All-Around Unusual Incident Office (AARO) to track UFOs. US officials use the term UAP to include aviation, space and maritime phenomena, but the word UFO is still commonly used.

A recently released NASA report found that negative sentiment about reporting UAP sightings has hindered data collection on the phenomenon. NASA’s new unit will help solve this problem, in order to get more information about UAP, helping investigators clarify the phenomenon.

During the press conference, NASA officials were also asked about the Mexican congressional hearing on September 12 about two sets of bodies believed to be of alien creatures.

“This is something I just saw on Twitter. The Mexican government should provide samples to the world scientific community and we will look into it,” said NASA’s Dr. David Spergel.

The US Congress has held many hearings with military officials about UAP over the past two years. In 2022, the US House of Representatives held the first public hearing on this topic in more than 50 years.

That year, the government reviewed 510 reported cases of UFO sightings, three times more than in 2021. Last month, the US published a website providing declassified information related to UAPs.

To date, the Pentagon has not discovered “credible evidence of extraterrestrial activity, off-world technology or objects that defy the laws of physics” related to UAPs.
